However, dishevelled as they appear, the collection is painstakingly finished to Lock Couture's exacting standards. Every flower is hand-rolled and hand-dyed. The wooden blocks made to sculpt each are bespoke. And only the finest fabrics are used; French silk, Italian straw, wild goose feather, paisley brocade and silk gazar.

Each piece is festooned with exquisite detail to reflect a wind-whipped garden; trapped flower heads in layers of cloud-grey silk tulle, deliberately crushed peonies and roses atop a head cage and deliberately crumpled straw, as if diminished by rain.

Meet the Milliner

Prudence

Lock Couture

A native of New York, Prudence studied at the city’s esteemed Fashion Institute of Technology. But it was after moving to London in 1986 that she found her calling as a milliner, launching her own couture line to critical acclaim.

Her creations would go on to be sold around the world, featured in countless films, shot in endless editorials and exhibited at the V&A in London. Her avant-garde designs have appeared on the catwalks of established Parisian and Italian fashion houses, as well as Prudence being commissioned as a collaborator for prominent British designers.

This is Prudence's first collection for Lock Couture and brings a contemporary focus to Lock & Co.’s storied craftsmanship.
